About this Site

ThreeBroomsticksPub.com was designed to capture the magical atmosphere of the Three Broomsticks Pub and the universe of Harry Potter, while also serving as a teaching tool used as part of the 'Advanced Web Site Design' curriculum at the University of Rhode Island.

The site was designed and developed, and the content for the pages written, by Jeremy Girard - whose personal site can be found at www.pumpkin-king.com. As one could probably guess, Jeremy is a fan of Harry Potter and he used this site as both a tool to teach students the magic of Web site design and as an excuse to apply his design skills within the rich tapestry of Harry's magic-fueled universe.

About the Pub

The Three Broomsticks was opened in 1621, the year of the Goblin Rebellion (at that time it was known as the 'One Broomstick Pub'). In our very first year of business, our establishment served as headquarters during this pivotal time in magical history and more than one wizard has gone on record as having attributed the eventual defeat of the Goblin Horde having been, in no small part, due to late night strategy sessions having been conducted over a pint of our renowned butterbeer.

Over the years, we have proudly served every witch and wizard of any importance to the magical community, from Merlin himself (see the photo above of Merlin engaged in a friendly game of billiards with some fellow patrons) to the heroes of the Second Wizarding War.

Sadly, while we would love to kick back and enjoy a pint of butterbeer with you, the only magic this site contains is the wonder of semantic XHTML for page structure and CSS for visual styling and layout.
